Welcome to Seussville!
My original goal was to spend only $100 for my son's first birthday. I figured I would go over and my husband "knew" I would go over, but I did spend less than $200 for everything with plenty of stuff for future parties.
I bought some crazy straws for the kids and Take and Toss cups for smaller guest.
I made "green eggs and ham" with white chocolate disk melted on grid pretzels and a green dot was made with food coloring.
My cotton candy melted after about 10min of me putting the trees together. I'm not sure if this just happens or it was too warm in the kitchen. I found a bulletin board Dr. Seuss set on Amazon for under $10. I put strawberries and bananas on skewers to make a "cat in the hat" look, and I placed gold fish snacks in a fish bowl. The cupcake stand I made myself using soup cans, cardboard paper, ribbon, and wrapping paper.
I made this cute sign with poster board and sharpies.
I made several (12) Truffula Trees for going down the hall and some were placed in the living room. Dollar Tree had sheets of 25 tissue papers for $1. I paid $4 to make 12 trees and 6 pom pom balls.
Cute little birthday boy! I find it hard to believe he is one already and if you have children you completely understand.

Cozy Coupe Batmobile
Cozy Coupe Batmobile
September 11th is my son's first birthday and I wanted to make him a Batmobile. His daddy loves Batman and what kid wouldn't want a Batmobile to fight crime in.
I found this old cozy coupe van, not quite a car but it has a sun roof. As my dear friend put it, if Batman gets into an accident he can just use the chair launch out the sun roof.
I ended up using 3 cans of black spray paint and 1 can of yellow spray paint. The paint I used was for plastics, Krylon Fusion.
I printed out some Batman symbols and laid a trash bag over the car except where the paper was and spray painted the yellow. Let it dry and you have a Batmobile!
Knowing what I know now, I would paint the car yellow and use a sticker to place on the car while I spray paint the car a darker color. If I ever make another refurbished cozy coupe that is what I would do differently.

Crafty: Window Picture Frame
A few months ago I saw some crafts on Pinterest that used old farm house window frames as picture frames and thought it was simply the cutest thing and would look perfect in our farm house kitchen over the table. Shortly there after I found some old windows at our local thrift store for $3 and I bought one and it sat there until yesterday. Yes, it took me some odd 4 months to finally finish this project, but at last...
The photos are washed out 5x7 prints to give them more of a vintage look (I wished I had done 8x10 photos now), the husband informed me in the making of this he wasn't a fan of black and white so I made a compromise that I actually like more. I free handed the "L" with a Sharpie but I had an Expo marker ready in case I needed to start over. If you didn't already know, dry erase markers take off permanent markers on whiteboards. I'm leaving the hanging job to the husband because it is quite heavy, I'll supervise that project.
